Somerville Business & Professional Association
welcomes its newest member

SOMERVILLE - Cluck-U Chicken, featuring a full menu of family-friendly meals and chicken wings dripping with 11 different sauces - spiced lightly or heavily for all tolerances - opens officially on July 11 in downtown Somerville.

Located at 2 West Main Street across from the Somerset County Courthouse, Cluck –U Chicken is the newest member of the Somerville Business & Professional Association.

Mayor Brian Gallagher will officially “open” the store and welcome owners Michael Zeiman, Neil Goldrosen and Gordon Hecht at 2 p.m., kicking off the day-long grand opening celebration.

Somerville volunteer firemen will do their best to put out the fire when several teams of fellow volunteers take on the challenge of eating ten fiery chicken wings in five minutes coated with the signature Cluck-U 911 Sauce, a concoction so spicy, so hot and equally ferocious that anyone attempting the feat must sign a waiver.

If by chance any of the firemen are able to finish the plate of wings, they will be rewarded with a cherished spot on Cluck U’s “Wall of Flame” and a commemorative t-shirt.

All contestants must adhere to a strict set of rules – no drinks, no napkins, and nothing else to eat while consuming the ten wings. The 911 sauce is at the top of the Cluck-U heat meter, with 10 other sauces available including Thermo Nuclear BBQ, Nuclear BBQ, Cluckster’s Hot Atomic BBQ, cooling down to Honey Hickory, Teriyaki and Mustard BBQ.  Bottles of Cluckster’s Wing Sauce – available in all flavors - can also be purchased. The owners invite anyone else who wants to take on the challenge of the 911 sauce to sign up in advance so that they can prepare enough of the incendiary sauce.

Proud to call itself “Somerville’s New Late Night Eatery,” Cluck-U Chicken has been serving customers for the past several months during its shakedown “soft” opening.

“Our members are thrilled to welcome Cluck-U Chicken to the Somerville business community, and we wish them well,” said Kevin Cahill, president of the SBPA and owner of Discover Wine. “It’s obvious already that they’ve made a big hit judging by the steady stream of customers for lunch and dinner.”

The owners have embraced the community and are proud to be a part of the downtown district. "Somerville is a great family friendly town that was attractive to us. Being the county seat, Somerville draws thousands of people from all over the county to the court house every year; our location across the street from the court house provides the exposure we desire,” said Zeiman.

“The town has done a spectacular job promoting many events over the course of the year such as The St. Patrick's Day Parade, The Tour of Somerville bicycle race, the Classic Car shows every Friday, the spring and fall street fairs along with so many other events,” he added. “The local community, business owners & civic leaders all work hard to make Somerville a destination point that goes far beyond just being the county seat,” Zeiman said.

Cluck-U is open Sunday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m., and Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-midnight. Cluck-U can also cater parties and delivery is available
